As a skinner/lw I have found that yes most stuff drops scraps, however the higher level stuff you get the more likelyhood that leather will drop instead of scraps. You will always get
scraps though. Here is my tip for farming leather. Get attuned for Black Morass, go in there (solo or teamed) and kill the beasts, and when you skin them you will, more often then not, get 3x scraps or 3x leather. Once all beast are killed, reset and do it again till your leather need is satisfied. Oh and make sure not to get too close to the guy in the middle, it would be bad to start the

To me, hunting and skinning go hand-in-hand, as some of you might agree. I have recently made to it to 375 in skinning, but I am a bit bothered (irritated, really) by the crap drop rates of decent skins.
Since starting off in
the Outlands a week or so ago, it seems that there is only about a 12 chance that something other than knothide leather scraps will drop. How did I arrive at this figure? Well, I made careful notes over yesterday's 200+ skinning attempts and then worked out the maths.
Anyone else noticed a similar is the desperate man's alternative to suicide."
